My Medieval Journal - My Government

Hello! It is me Charlotte again! Today I am going to talk about Flanders's government! My government is a monarchy feudalism. We have many laws in Flanders and some of them i agree with and some i do not agree with. One law that i do agree with is trial by battle. I agree with this because my family's religion is Christian and I too believe that God will protect an innocent person. A law that I do not agree with is trial by ordeal. I do not agree with trial by ordeal because I think that if the person is innocent then they went through all that pain and suffering for nothing! Conflicts in our country are that other people with different religions have a hard time excepting other people with a different religion, which I think is not fair and that everyone should except everyone no matter what religion. Well I must go cook dinner for Mother, Sally, and Samuel.

My Medieval Journal - Personal Information

Hello my name is Charlotte Cook, and I live in the country of Flanders. I am thirteen years of age and an apprentice of cooking for Mistress Madeline Mealsburg. I have two siblings, a brother a sister, and a mother. My father died of a deadly disease a year ago called black death. My older brother Samuel, sells chickens in the market, my sister Sally, works as an assistant for Lucy Bakes, who owns the local bakery in town, and my mother is a spinster who makes and sells items that she spins out of yarn. My mother, brother, sister and me live in a hut on the far side of the village. Our hut has two bedrooms, and in the middle of the hut is a fire place. Our hut has no chimney though, the smoke escapes through a hole in our thatched roof. The floor is made up of hard dirt and we cover it in hay for warmth when it's really cold. Samuel, Sally, and I try to help mother the best we can by cooking, cleaning, working, occasionally tending the fire, and going to get food from the market and Lucy Bakes, bakery. Usually me and Sally do most of the cooking since we work around food and cooking. For fun Sally, Samuel and I like to make up our own games, or play tag with the other children in the village when we have extra time, which isn't very often. At home I am expected to cook dinner and help mother keep the hut as clean as we can. I also sometimes run to the market or bakery to pick up food for our meals. Well I got to go, time to go work for Mistress Madeline.
